Software Developer

Software Engineer

Worked in C++ to build a system that monitored data coming from the internet and blocked it based on specific content as determined by the end user. The end product is known as Net Nanny.

Research Assistant

Studied general relativity, focusing on stable configurations of neutron stars with complex magnetic fields and mergers of neutron stars and black holes. Solved the equations of general relativity, electricity & magnetism, and fluid dynamics simultaneously in an astronomical system to determine the resultant physics. Used several mathematical computational models to increase speed and accuracy, primarily writing code in C and FORTRAN on a supercomputer.

Taught introductory physics classes (PH107 and PH108) over several semesters, and assisted other professors as a teaching assistant.

Advanced Numerical Methods in General Relativistic Magnetohydrodynamics — refined the process of evolutions in general relativistic magnetohydrodynamics, investigating several conversion methodologies to improve overall accuracy.

Inside Sales / Software Engineer

Served as the contact point between a nationwide network of distributors and the company, helping deliver the final product to end customers.

Wrote a first commercial application to automate quote generation for out-of-the-box systems: users entered basic customer requirements and the tool generated a quote as a Word document automatically, dramatically reducing the time to create a simple quote. The application was eventually rolled out to the distributor network, giving them faster turnaround for customers and freeing roughly half of the inside sales force to focus on more complex, custom systems.

Technical Support and Technical Training

Delivered technical training, lecture and lab, on installation and maintenance of the Rauland suite of Nurse Call products, covering hardware and software setup for nurse-patient communication systems.

Also provided advanced technical support for Nurse Call systems, primarily by phone, and traveled to hospitals during installations to inspect setup.

Field Service Engineer

Field maintenance and upgrading of surface mount placement machines, traveling across the United States to various clients.

Nuclear Reactor Operator
